Kuna School District asks Ada County Republicans to remove Facebook post on survey mishap

The Kuna School District is requesting a Facebook post be removed after the Ada County Republicans blasted school leaders over an unauthorized survey.

So, here's what happened, the school district says.

Last week, a student at Kuna High wrote a five-question survey for a dual-credit sociology class that was emailed to students using internal mass distribution groups. The survey was not approved by the teacher or administration.

The survey asked students the following questions:

The Ada County Republicans Facebook page blasted the district in a social post.

"The students answering the questionnaire will not vote for another 4 years," the post states. "But assuming 14-year-olds might align with the politics of their parents it will sure give the schools a snap shot of the work they have ahead to flip Idaho "blue. And given the dicey discussions last spring why did the School Board, Principal and teacher not think that this might not be appropriate?

The page goes on to say: "If you need any evidence of the importance of local school board races and the need to fight back from the takeover that has happened in our schools, this is a reminder. We need school board members a bit more pro-child, pro-family, pro-Idaho, and pro-America! UNITE TO FIGHT!"

The district's communication director, Allison Westfall, told members of the media that the group never reached out to Kuna district leaders.

"We've asked the group to remove the post," Westfall said.

The post has an updated caption now to highlight the district's response, but it's still labeled as breaking news at this time. Kuna school officials have said they are taking steps to ensure students no longer have access to the mass email options moving forward.

CBS2 has reached out to Ada County Republicans for comment.
